Missa Concordiae is a pop mass from 1993. According to composer and lyricist Lasse Heikkilä, the idea for the Missa originated from the question: How could congregations organize events where youth could invite their schoolmates and friends? The answer was an ecumenical soul mass, Missa Concordiae, the mass of reconciliation. In its first year, forty young people performed the mass 30 times in various locations across Finland, reaching over 30,000 listeners in total. In 1993, Missa Concordiae was one of the best-selling Finnish spiritual recordings. Missa Concordiae - The Mass of Reconciliation is Lasse Heikkilä’s masterpiece, with many of its songs having remained alive in congregations and choir repertoires. In Vaasa, it will be heard as a collaboration between two local music organizations, as the strings of Wasa Sinfonietta and the Sing the Joy choir come together to perform this captivating piece, which will leave no member of the audience indifferent.
