Koiramäki's History of Finland takes you on a journey to ancient Finland!
 
This fast-paced and musical children's play for the whole family explores the twists and turns of Finnish history from the 16th to the 19th century.
The captivating story begins emotionally when the girl dog Alix receives a failed grade in her history exam. After the other students have gone home, Alix opens a history book in the classroom, with a treasure map in the middle.
Suddenly, the magical portal of the treasure map takes Alix on a wonderful journey through time. A boring history book transforms in the blink of an eye into a hilarious adventure, where the stories are full of life, joy, dance, song and dramatic twists.
In her fast-paced adventures, Alix meets many historical figures, such as Mikael Agricola, the father of the Finnish literary language, King Gustavus Vaasa of Sweden, the Girl Queen Kristina, and the naturalist Pehr Kalmi. We will also see Kunnas' beloved characters Herra Hakkarainen and Heikki Hämähäkki on stage!
 
The play is based on Mauri Kunnas's best-selling book Koiramäki's History of Finland, published in 2017. Several generations have grown up with the beloved Koiramäki series. The last time Kunnas's dog characters were seen at the Vaasa City Theatre was in 2022, when Seven Dog Brothers took over the big stage.
