The dramatic opening concert of the Korsholm Music Festival will feature the Wegelius Chamber Orchestra. Under the direction of the skillful violinist Annemarie Åström, the orchestra offers a varied repertoire ranging from baroque to modern classical music.
 
The concert features some of the finest soloists in the Nordic region: violinists Elina Vähälä and Anna-Liisa Bezrodny, cellist Jan-Erik Gustafsson and flutist Janne Thomsen. Highlights include Johann Sebastian Bach's Double Concerto for two violins in D minor, the expressive Chamber Music III by Aulis Sallinen, and the innovative Bridges of Light by Tõnu Kõrvits, written in 2024 for flute and strings.
 
The evening will end with the classic Serenade for String Orchestra by Edward Elgar. The concert will be an unforgettable experience for music lovers and new visitors alike.
